CGI in the UK has achieved its operational net zero target before its target year, reducing scope 1 and 2 emissions by 87%.
Set in 2021, CGI in the UK’s near-term science-based targets, validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), cover emissions from operations, business travel and supply chain. The targets highlight CGI’s commitment to net zero and reducing emissions resulting from its business and operations.
For scope 1 and 2 emissions (emissions that are a direct result of company operations and purchased electricity), CGI in the UK set a target to reduce emissions 46% by Financial Year 2026 compared to a 2019 baseline, equivalent to reaching 1,719 tCO2e in 2026. In FY2024, CGI in the UK emissions from scope 1 and 2 were 428 tCO2e, a reduction of 87% against the baseline year far exceeding its target.
Achieving reductions at this scale is a result of a series of successful initiatives implemented across CGI's UK sites alongside utilising the principles of CGI DataTwin360 to monitor energy efficiency and solar energy optimisation, an integral part of achieving an 87% emissions reduction. Other initiatives include the installation of solar arrays at our Bridgend and Chippenham sites and ensuring 98% of electricity provided to CGI's UK offices is from renewable energy sources.
At a global level, CGI has committed to achieving net zero by 2030. Establishing its position as a leader in climate action globally.
